Anna Kurova

Anna Kurova joined the MOSAIC group as a PhD student in April 2026. She is from the northern capital of Russia, Saint Petersburg.

Anna completed her B.Sc. in Applied Mathematics at Peter the Great St. Petersburg Polytechnic University, where she developed a strong interest in mathematical modeling and computer science. After nearly two years of working experience as a Data Engineer, she decided to pursue a Master’s degree in Computational Modeling and Simulation at TU Dresden. The entire duration of her studies was supported by an Excellence Scholarship from the School of Embedded Composite Artificial Intelligence (SECAI), one of three DAAD-funded German Federal graduate schools of excellence for Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning.

During her Master’s degree, Anna focused on machine learning, computational mathematics, and statistics. For her Master’s thesis, Anna worked under the supervision of Prof. Ivo Sbalzarini on exploring a score-matching approach for the inference of general point process densities.

Anna’s PhD research focuses on spatially informed machine learning methods, combining mathematical foundations with data-driven approaches to develop novel algorithms for spatial data analysis.
