Serhii Yaskovets

Serhii Yaskovets is a Staff Scientist in the MOSAIC group since September 2022. He is a Ukrainian citizen.

In 2019, he graduated from Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv with a Master of Science in Computer Engineering. Additionally, he holds a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science and a Junior Specialist’s degree in Software Engineering. His master thesis focused on automated software-assisted ultrasonic non-destructive evaluation.

During his early student years (2012-2016), Serhii worked as a freelance software engineer maintaining server and database infrastructure, developing websites and mobile applications, as well as developing and teaching professional courses.

In 2016, Serhii completed an internship at SKZ-KFE gGmbH, the German Plastics Center in Würzburg, Germany. Between 2017 and 2020, Serhii was a remote software engineer at SKZ-KFE gGmbH, designing hardware and software solutions for the department of non-destructive testing and evaluation. His main focus was on developing a software framework for compression, processing, and visualization of ultrasonic signals and terahertz spectrometry data.

In 2020, Serhii enrolled at TU Dresden for a second Master’s degree. In 2022, he graduated with a Master of Science degree in Computational Modeling and Simulation (CMS), with specialization in Computational Life Science. During his time as a CMS student at TU Dresden, Serhii also worked as a student research assistant in the MOSAIC group, helping with the development of the OpenFPM framework.

Since 2022, Serhii is the main developer and maintainer of the OpenFPM project for scalable scientific computing in our group.
